Due to the extensive national electrical standards imposed upon Indianapolis Power & Light and the need for the City of Beech Grove to work in partnership with IPL and respect that compliance, more time has been needed to make progress than originally anticipated. However, the project continues to move forward with 102 pole locations identified and decisions being made on each pole needed for the infrastructure equipment and cameras.
A main priority is finalization of the consumer pricing package. Pricing and service levels will be equal to or better than existing service providers.
Stay tuned for future updates coming soon.

With the award of a $1 million matching grant from the Indiana Department of Transportation, the Beech Grove Redevelopment Commission will begin construction on Phase I of the communityÕs new four-mile Greenway, providing a safe and scenic walkway for Beech Grove residents to exercise while traveling throughout the city and seeing friends and neighbors. The Greenway Committee, along with representatives from the Indiana Department of Transportation and Schneider Corporation are meeting to determine next steps regarding Phase I construction.

The Redevelopment Commission, along with representatives from Schneider Corporation and Crossroads Engineers, made a presentation in November to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Planning Organization in support of its grant application for $4.4 million to supplement local funding for the revitalization of Main Street. Main Street is a key component to the City's comprehensive multi-modal approach. The Redevelopment Commission expects to hear results of the grant application in the spring of 2008.

The Grow Ideas BG Kids Project
The Grow Ideas BG Kids project started with the hypothesis that the City of Beech Grove provides traditional recreational and play spaces (swings, playgrounds, skate board park) for children roughly between the ages of 2 and 12. However, for children and young adults, ages 12 to 17, there are not many options for recreation and performance.

View Survey Results.
The survey, conducted via a combination of online and mail methodology, produced a total of 324 responses. While not a statistically controlled sample, the survey delivers an approximate five percent margin of error at a 95% confidence rate. This means that if you conducted the same survey using the same methodology 100 times, 95 times you would obtain results within approximately five percent of observed results. For example, if 82% said living in Beech Grove is safer than living in Indianapolis, then in 95 out of 100 times the same question would result in responses between 77% and 87%.
